May 29, 2012 - PITTSBURGH … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced a contract valued at more than $1 million to supply the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) headquarters in Washington, D.C. with upgraded network protectors designed to safeguard the constant flow of safe, stable power to the 847,391 square foot U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) operated building, which was originally constructed in 1963.

“We understand the FAA’s mission is to provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world,” said Jim Dankowski, manager, Marketing and Business Development, Government Sales and Solutions, Eaton. “With our innovative products and expert team of engineers, Eaton is well positioned to contribute to this critical power management initiative.”

Eaton’s Electrical Service and Systems division, one of the largest and most experienced teams of power system engineers in the industry, will provide field personnel for on-site technical services including the replacement of the FAA’s aging equipment with custom installations of the CM52 Network Protector, which has the highest interrupting rating in the industry and are the only network protectors to carry a Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Label.

The CM52 is designed to ensure maximized maintainability for customers such as the FAA, as its breaker has no adjustments required over the life of the unit and fewer replacement parts than traditional units. A built-in wear gauge shows the acceptable limit of contact wear, making the breaker condition easier to identify for service periods. Quality design makes for easier system testing and safer operation with Eaton’s dead front design and draw out capability.

The project was made possible through a GSA contract awarded to Maurice Electric, an authorized Eaton distributor, and teaming partner, Meltech Electrical, a division of Meltech Corporation, in a joint effort to meet the government’s goals for small business participation in government contracts.

Meltech is a 100 percent woman-owned and operated small business that serves the Federal Government and all branches of DoD throughout the continental United States (CONUS), and Internationally (OCONUS).  Meltech has five operating divisions: General Contracting, Construction Management, Environmental Services, Electrical Contracting, and Special Projects. Additionally, Meltech specialties in: IDIQ Type contracts, Design/Build, Operations and Maintenance, Historical Restoration, Systems & Security Upgrades, Roofing, Modular, and various other construction related projects in the federal arena.
