PITTSBURGH … Power management company Eaton today announced the new EGENX air-cooled standby generator and EGSX automatic transfer switch (ATS). Together, these products offer homeowners the safety, comfort and convenience of standby power in a powerful and efficient engine.

The new EGENX series generator offers customers improved power outage protection and engine efficiency with an electronic governor and a convenient built-in battery trickle charger. Coupled with the EGSX automatic transfer switch, EGENX generators provide a reliable solution for a fully automated and reliable backup power system.

“Eaton generators provide reliable backup power, reducing the discomfort and potential damages to homes affected by power failure,” said Adrian Sanchez, product engineer, Eaton. “By pairing an Eaton automatic transfer switch with an Eaton standby generator, customers can have even greater peace of mind during outages.”

Built with an overhead valve industrial (OHVI) engine type, the EGENX air-cooled standby generator enhances engine breathing for improved fuel efficiency and power output. With superior lubrication to vital components and a low oil pressure shutdown system designed to prevent catastrophic engine damage, the generator offers better performance and longer engine life. Additionally, a skewed stator produces a smooth output waveform, generating cleaner power quality to help protect expensive home electronics. The new generator controller with auto/manual/off membrane buttons selects the operating mode for at-a-glance status indication and offers a universal series bus (USB) port interface for programming updates.

Eaton’s new EGSX automatic transfer switches help generators operate efficiently with two load shedding contacts, designed to protect the generator from overload. The non-redundant relay interface system and terminal block termination allows for cost-effective and intuitive installation. National Electrical Code® (NEC) 702.5 compliant, the EGSX ATSs are compatible with Eaton generators and most competitor standby air-cooled brands.
