Dubai, United Arab Emirates -- February 13, 2014 -- Power management company Eaton this week held its inaugural Middle East Technology Days in Dubai to showcase its latest solutions spanning seven industry segments: construction, aerospace, oil and gas, data centre and IT, utilities, solar and vehicles.
The Dubai Technology Days, held over two days at The Park Hyatt hotel, were attended by over 400 customers and partners and represented another key milestone in Eaton’s 40 year history operating in the Middle East.
The Technology Days were officially opened by Her Excellency Salma Ali Saif Saeed Bin Hareb, Chief Executive Officer Economic Zones World, the parent company of the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza). Her Excellency Salma Ali Saif bin Hareb also delivered the opening keynote speech. The event combined an exhibition floor showcasing Eaton’s power management solutions and products with 18 technical seminars and private sessions run by Eaton’s leading experts.
Representing Eaton at the Dubai Technology Days were several of its most senior officers in the region and globally including: Thomas S Gross, vice chairman and chief operating officer, Electrical Sector; Ramanath Ramakrishnan, executive vice president and chief technology officer; Kurt McMaken, president, EMEA; Frank Campbell, president Electrical Sector, EMEA; Gardiner Henderson, global director, oil and gas; and Frank Ackland, general manager, Middle East.
“I am proud of the contribution Eaton has made towards many of the region’s most high profile infrastructure projects and I am tremendously excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in this dynamic and fast-growing market,” said Gross. “While we have operated in the Middle East for four decades, the recent opening of our new regional headquarters and manufacturing hub will be a platform to help supercharge our growth moving forward.”
“Technology Days are one of the most important platforms Eaton uses to raise market awareness of the company’s extensive power management capabilities,” said Frank Ackland. “My vision is to establish Eaton as one of the premier power management companies in the Middle East and this Technology Day will be a key step in the journey towards realizing this goal and achieving our Middle East revenue target of $800 million by 2015,” added Ackland.
Her Excellency Salma Ali Saif bin Hareb said on the occasion: “Sustainability and energy-efficiency are vital requirements for the economic viability of businesses around the world. As Dubai works towards the greater vision for the UAE and Dubai, envisaged by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and his Green Economy initiative, we have the distinct privilege of hosting a premier power solutions provider like Eaton, for the benefit of businesses in Dubai, the UAE and the greater MENA region.”
“At Jafza, we say that successful businesses are known by the company they keep, and we are extremely proud of our association with Eaton,” she added.
Eaton has operated in the Middle East for more than four decades, contributing to the development of the region’s infrastructure with power management solutions built upon a legacy of innovative brands including Westinghouse, BILL, MEM, Cutler-Hammer, Powerware and Moeller. In November 2013, Eaton opened its new regional headquarters in the Jebel Ali Free Zone and in November 2012 completed its transformative acquisition of Cooper Industries which significantly increased the breadth of the company’s electrical product portfolio, globally and across the Middle East.
